and it is not proposed therefore to dispense with their services at once. A further report will be called for from the Superintendent of Crow Lands and Survey after they have served one year and it will then be decided whether they can be retained or not. In the event of further appointments being necessary, I trust that care will be taken in selecting men with adequate qualifications. I am sure that the Council of the Surveyors' Institute and in particular Sir John Oakley, would, if approached, be pleased to co-operate with the Crom Agents in selecting suitable men.
